Laveo DF1045 User Manual

Laveo DF1045 Portable Toilet

Welcome to your Laveo DF1045 Portable Toilet User Manual. This comprehensive guide will walk you through every aspect of your new waterless toilet system, from initial setup to daily use and maintenance.

Quick Start

New to your Laveo? Start with the section, then move to .

Precautions

Do Not Stand on the Laveo

Standing on the Laveo may cause damage or personal injury.

Never Use for Unintended Purposes

Only use the Laveo for its designed purpose as a portable toilet.

Use Approved Power Sources Only

Using alternate power sources may damage the unit and void the warranty.

Water Resistant, Not Waterproof

Do not store or install the Laveo in unprotected areas where water may pool.

Supervise Children

Always supervise children when using the Laveo.

Avoid Sharp Objects

Do not put sharp objects such as broken glass into the Laveo as it may puncture the containment material.

Setup

Before using your Laveo, familiarise yourself with its key components. This section provides an overview of the various parts that make your toilet work.

Front View Components

Flush Button

Activates the flush cycle with a single press and release. The button becomes inactive during the flush cycle to prevent accidental double flushing.

Toilet Seat

A standard round seat offering comfort and the option for customisation to suit your style.

Trim Top

Located beneath the toilet seat, this trim piece conceals the refill cartridge and can be easily removed without tools.

Toilet Base

Constructed from durable, high-impact plastic and designed for longevity. Can be cleaned with your preferred cleaning agent.

Rear View Components

Battery Compartment

Located at the bottom of the Laveo, designed for easy access without requiring tools.

Charge Cable

Stored in the Battery Compartment. Connect to the supplied Battery Charger when recharging. Disconnect after two hours to prevent battery damage.

Power Inlet

Connection point for both the 12V Battery and optional AC (240V) Power Adapter.

Rear Panel

Covers the Printed Circuit Board. Do not remove unless instructed by Dry Flush Customer Support. Contains the product label and serial number.

Getting Your Laveo Ready for Use

Your Laveo comes fully equipped and almost ready to use out of the box. However, due to shipping regulations, please perform these initial setup steps.

1

Remove the Trim Top

Lift up the toilet seat and remove the white Trim Top beneath it.

2

Seat the Octagon Container

Carefully remove the Refill Cartridge and ensure the Octagon Container is sitting properly on the Square Key. Turn the container clockwise gently—you should feel resistance and hear a motor sound. If not, lift the container 2-5cm, place it back down, and turn clockwise until seated.

3

Prepare the Bagging Material

Ensure the black plastic octagon panel is fully seated at the bottom of the container. Gently push the barrier material to form a "bowl" shape.

4

Connect Power

Plug the Power Cable into the Power Inlet located at the rear of the unit.

Laveo Placement

The Laveo is highly portable and can be placed on any level surface, indoors or outdoors. Remember that your Laveo is water resistant but not waterproof. Do not place it where water may pool.

For enhanced stability, consider the optional floor mounting kit or Comfort Lift Package available at www.dryflush.com.au.

Electrical Connections

Understanding your Laveo's electrical system ensures safe and reliable operation.

Power Inlet

This is where the Laveo receives power from either the supplied Battery or the optional AC Power Adapter. Both use a round Barrel Style connector, similar to laptop power cables.

⚠️ WARNING

Never plug in an AC Adapter rated above 12 Volts and 5 Amps. Doing so could damage your Laveo and pose a fire risk.

Charge Cable

Connect your Battery Charger here when the battery needs recharging. The Laveo draws minimal power when not in use.

Charging Recommendations: Charge for 1-2 hours if the toilet has been idle for extended periods. For regular use, charge 1-2 hours monthly. Always disconnect the charger after a few hours to prevent overcharging.

Fuse

The Fuse Body houses a 7.5 Amp ATO/ATC style fuse. If your Laveo suddenly stops working, a blown fuse is a likely cause.

⚠️ WARNING: Never replace a fuse with one rated higher than 7.5 Amps. This could damage your Laveo or cause a fire.

Installing the Refill

Watch the video above to see the complete refill installation process in action.

1

Remove the Trim Top

Raise the toilet seat and lift off the white trim top piece.

2

Prepare the Container

Remove the Octagon Container and place the black disposal liner into it. Roll the top edge down around the rim like a rubbish bin. Secure with the large rubber band provided.

3

Insert the Bagging Material

Pull out the minimum amount of bagging material necessary to insert the 8-sided panel into the bottom of the liner.

4

Install the Cartridge

Place the Refill Cartridge onto the round opening of the Base, aligning the cut-outs towards the rear. Replace the white Trim Top piece.

5

Form the Bowl

Form the bag into a bowl shape using your hands, or press the black flush button to initiate a flush. Your Laveo is now ready for use.

Note: The Refill Cartridge is manufactured with a Red Line indicator. When this line becomes visible, the cartridge is empty and requires replacement.

Removing Waste and Empty Cartridge

1

Remove the Trim Top

Lift the toilet seat and remove the underlying white Trim Top piece.

2

Recycle the Cartridge Rim

Lift up the plastic cartridge rim and pull or cut the bag away from the bottom. Release the silver Mylar bag into the black garbage bag below. Place the plastic rim into a recycling bin.

3

Remove the Garbage Bag

Pull up the sides of the black plastic garbage bag containing the silver Mylar bag and its contents out of the toilet base.

4

Seal the Waste

Grab the edge of the Refill Cartridge and lift it to expose the lined Octagon Container. Pull the liner up and over the plastic shell of the cartridge.

5

Dispose Responsibly

Using the supplied bag twist tie, twist and seal the black liner bag. Dispose in any suitable trash receptacle.

Please dispose of waste responsibly. Ensure the black plastic bag is properly sealed and closed. Help us maintain a positive reputation by discarding waste in a manner that never causes discomfort to others.

How to Use Your Laveo

Your Laveo works similarly to a conventional porcelain toilet. After use, simply press the Flush Button to initiate a 16-second cycle that twists and compacts waste, creating a fresh "bowl" ready for the next use.

Flush Capacity

Your Laveo has sufficient capacity for approximately 15-17 flushes per cartridge. Each use consumes one flush and fills one allocated space within the container.

Example: If you use the Laveo ten times before flushing, you will have used ten of the 15-17 available flushes, not 14-16 remaining after a single flush.

Using Pee Powder

Since urination is more frequent than defecation, our Pee Powder helps you maximise uses per flush and save on refill costs. This powder solidifies and deodorises urine, allowing you to extend use to a 3:1 ratio (three urinations per flush). We do not recommend this practice for solid waste.

Troubleshooting Guide

Toilet does not flush - no power

  • Ensure that your Battery is fully charged.
  • Ensure that the Power Cable is securely plugged into the Power Inlet.
  • Remove the Battery and check that the Battery Cable connections are connected securely.
  • Check that the Fuse is intact.

Toilet runs very slowly

  • Charge the Battery.

Material rises above seat when flushing

  • Add a 350ml (12oz) cup of water to your next flush.

Liquid leaked into the next bowl

  • Much like a porcelain toilet, sometimes there can be a little left over in the next bowl.
  • Our Pee Powder greatly reduces the chance of this happening by solidifying the urine before the next flush.
  • Visit www.dryflush.com.au to learn more about Pee Powder.
